At the recently concluded 19th China International Machine Tool Show (CIMT2025), intelligent innovation achievements in CNC machining focusing on automotive manufacturing scenarios were collectively displayed, attracting widespread attention from the industry. Wuhan Huazhong Numerical Control, targeting the processing needs of NEV components, launched the new-generation intelligent CNC system "Huazhong Type 10 - Automotive Special Edition". Through the in-depth adaptation of AI chips and automotive component processing technology models, it realizes the automatic optimization of processing parameters for core components such as motor shafts and gearbox housings. On-site demonstrations showed that the system can independently adjust cutting speed and feed rate according to the processing characteristics of different materials (aluminum alloy, high-strength steel), control the processing precision error within ±0.001mm, and increase production efficiency by more than 20% at the same time. Workers can call and debug the processing program through voice commands, which greatly reduces the operation threshold.

The upgrading of flexible manufacturing capabilities has further enabled CNC machining to accurately match the multi-variety and mass production needs of the automotive industry. At the exhibition site, Ningbo Weili Robot displayed a digital flexible manufacturing production line for automotive components. Through the collaborative linkage between CNC machine tools and industrial robots, it realizes the full-process automation from blank loading, processing, inspection to finished product unloading. The production line can flexibly switch the processing of 12 types of core NEV components such as motor housings, battery trays, and suspension systems, reducing the changeover time from the traditional 4 hours to 30 minutes, effectively solving the pain point of "multi-model co-production" for automakers. The automotive-specific flexible production control system launched by Liding Intelligent Equipment can also collect real-time data such as temperature and vibration during the processing process, predict equipment failures through big data analysis, and increase the production line utilization rate to more than 95%.

The effective implementation of technology is inseparable from the in-depth cultivation and dedication of craftsmen. Tang Weifeng, the "CNC Knife Expert" from Suzhou Panasonic Manufacturing Technology Co., Ltd., has been deeply engaged in the field of CNC machining of automotive components for 15 years. Aiming at the problem of easy deformation in the processing of lightweight aluminum alloy components for NEVs, he developed the "layered cutting + constant temperature control" processing technology by optimizing the processing path and innovating the clamping method. This technology has increased the processing yield rate of aluminum alloy motor housings from 85% to 99.2%, shortened the processing cycle by 18%, and has been adopted by many mainstream automakers. His practice confirms the industry consensus that "precision machining relies not only on intelligent equipment, but also on ingenuity polishing", and provides valuable experience for the in-depth application of CNC technology in the automotive manufacturing field.

Industry data shows that the market demand for CNC machine tools in China's automotive manufacturing field continues to rise. In 2024, the market scale reached 128.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.3%, of which the demand for CNC machining equipment related to NEVs accounted for more than 60%. At the policy level, the support of ultra-long-term national bonds for the R&D of manufacturing equipment for core automotive components, as well as the continuous advancement of the NEV industry development plan, have injected strong impetus into the innovative application of CNC machining technology in the automotive field. Yu Fenghui, a senior researcher at the Pangoal Institution, said that CNC precision machining is a core supporting technology for NEVs to achieve lightweight and intelligent upgrades. Its technological breakthrough can not only enhance the core competitiveness of China's automotive manufacturing, but also has important strategic significance for ensuring the safety of the automotive industrial chain and supply chain.

From technological innovation at exhibitions to mass application in workshops, from the iterative upgrading of intelligent systems to the technological breakthroughs of craftsmen, CNC precision machining is deeply integrating into the entire chain of automotive manufacturing.
