Do any of the eight industries where industrial robots are most widely used include your industry?

Currently, the most direct manifestation of China's machine tool industry is that it is large in scale but not strong in strength. Apart from the relatively short development time and the long-term technological restrictions from abroad, I believe that the lack of unity, trust, and cooperation among enterprises also plays a significant role. For example, blind competition, lack of copyright awareness, and insufficient brand building have all impacted the healthy development of the industry.

Let's talk about the problem of blind competition among machine tool enterprises. At present, China's machine tool products are concentrated in the medium and low-end segments. With a large number of enterprises and varying levels of technical capabilities, in a relatively small market, many companies resort to price wars, selling products at prices that do not conform to market rules. The market sees 'your price drops, mine drops lower,' resulting in prices being driven down to ruinous levels, product quality deteriorating. Not only did no one make a profit, but it also damaged the reputation of domestic brands.

Lack of copyright awareness is also a common problem among machine tool enterprises. Faced with the harsh reality of fierce competition in the low-end market, many companies have started to take the path of independent innovation in an attempt to win the market through technology. These enterprises have invested a great deal of time and money in R&D, only to find that they did not fail on the road to overcoming technical difficulties, but were driven to a dead end by a bunch of 'shanzhai' (counterfeit) products. This is a true story in the industry: a certain enterprise spent a large amount of funds to develop a new product with independent intellectual property rights, only to end up on the path of anti-counterfeiting before it could profit from it. Although counterfeit products have quality flaws, their low prices quickly capture the market. Enterprises engaged in R&D not only lose their high R&D costs but also have to bear the cost of anti-counterfeiting themselves.

Finally, let's talk about the issue of lacking brand building. In fact, what China's current machine tool industry lacks is not manufacturing enterprises, but its own brands. Regarding brand building, I believe it can be approached from two aspects: first, enterprises should focus on making their products bigger and stronger, establishing a good brand image; second, they need to have a cooperative mindset to build collective brand images. Considering the numerous small enterprises in China's machine tool industry and their relatively concentrated distribution, creating regional brands is very feasible. For example, Yuhuan's 'China Small Specialized, High-Quality, and Precision Machine Tool Production Base' can be seen as a regional collective brand, and such collective brands bring significant reputation benefits to local enterprises. Currently, cooperation among China's machine tool enterprises in this area is relatively insufficient, and due to individual weaknesses, it is difficult to form competitive advantages in branding.

In fact, if Chinese machine tool enterprises can unite and support each other, the aforementioned phenomena can all be improved. For instance, by joining forces to jointly establish a sound market competition order and curb low-price competition; or by enterprises with complementary strengths cooperating to jointly develop technologies, share costs, and co-share the fruits of their labor; or by domestic machine tool enterprises, especially those with geographical ties, banding together for regional development and building regional brands.

Even the heroes in 'The Avengers,' who can save the world single-handedly, still need to unite and cooperate. How much more so for China's machine tool enterprises, which are already in a relatively weak position. As the saying goes, 'One flower blooming alone does not make spring; it is when many flowers bloom that the garden is filled with spring.' In my view, when machine tool enterprises can join hands, work together, and plan for common development, the spring for domestic machine tools will arrive.
